KASA (笠)
Utilizing technology to capture the intricate, unseen details of nature. By merging digital and traditional techniques, we highlight not only the contrast between futuristic and traditional methods but also their capacity to coexist harmoniously. We imbue the tranquility of traditional ceramic craft with the connectivity of digital tools, bridging timeless calmness with contemporary relevance.

Project background
This project was developed in Tokyo, Japan at Tama Art University (TAMABI) through, Pacific Rim 15, an exchange program from ArtCenter College of Design. The work was a collaborative project between a ceramic major student from TAMABI and myself, combining material craft with conceptual storytelling.
My role and responsibilities
Drawing from my background in concept development and visualization, I led the overall design direction of the ceramic collection, KASA, while working closely with my collaborator’s expertise in ceramic fabrication. The name KASA carries multiple meanings in Japanese—translating to umbrella or hat—and references the mushroom form that inspired the collection. I was responsible for the 3D modeling, preparation of 3D printing files, graphic design, and key design decisions, shaping the collection from concept through production while maintaining a collaborative dialogue throughout the process.
